Why are we mink free?

Did you know that mink lashes are made using animal fur?

Minks are small mammals that, unfortunately for them, have soft dark brown fur. This fur is what makes them susceptible to being harvested or even killed for their fur. Mink eyelashes consist of mink fur that has been shaved off a mink’s body (either prior to or directly after the animal has been killed). The fur is then glued in strands into eyelashes for a ‘fuller’ look, one that can be achieved using synthetic lashes WITHOUT harming an animal.

You may be thinking, but ‘example’ has stated that their eyelashes are 100% cruelty free, despite being mink. Sadly, this just isn’t the case. Minks are kept in small, depressing and cramped wire cages in terrible conditions and this is if they are lucky. Often, they are killed for their fur using gas chambers, as this is ‘easier’ for fur-farms (PETA,2019).

By purchasing mink eyelashes, not only are you contributing to a horrific and cruel trade, but you are essentially allowing and funding an industry in which animals are subjected to horrific disease, hardships, fear, stress and even death.

For every purchase, Dare Lashes will donate 5% to WWF to help stamp out the cruel fur trade.

Dare to be different.
